As the two-year cycle of shirts continues, we are due for a new Vegas gold shirt for 2013-14, the one that we pay for ourselves out of pocket, but I have been exploring the possibilities of getting a custom sublimated (like a High 5) shirt this time around. We've found a company that will do the shirts for us for about $55 each, which is the lowest I've been able to find, and pretty close to what we have spent on the shirts recently.
So, is everyone OK with going this route? This would mean that we would collect the $50 tryout fee plus the individual cost of the shirt from everyone prior to tryouts.
If this sounds like a good plan, what style of shirt would you prefer? We can do full collar or half collar polos with zippers, or can get polos with buttons instead. ...and we could conceivably do a different style for the men compared to the women. I've attached an example of the half collar polo with a zipper that was done for Fresno State. Ours would be more dramatic I believe!
I'm working on a design that incorporates the lion head and paw prints we used on the custom spare ball, but also uses "claw marks" and maybe even a set of lion "eyes" that I've found. Once I get it to a point that I like the direction we're going, I'll post some mock-up pictures.
Please give me your feedback as quickly as possible so we won't be waiting on these shirts like we've had to in some cases in the past. The other black shirt is going into its second year, so those who need the shirt who don't have it yet will get that one from the school.
If it helps at all Phil, here's an idea I came up with last year. I really like the idea of claw marks going through the front like a lion got a hold of it ;)
Similar thought process, although at this point, the lion head is huge on the front and wraps around the back a bit, and the claw marks on on one of the sleeves. I'll post my "vision" when I get it closer to what I'm thinking.
Hey Phil, would you mind if I chalk up a design for the new shirt? I like the idea of a custom shirt and would love to contribute to this. Ricky's design is close to something I had in mind.
Sure, Kelsey. Knock yourself out! I expect to have a first look at my initial thoughts early this coming week. The key is to get to an acceptable and agreeable design as soon as possible. I don't want to spend weeks and weeks getting to that point.
I am a fan of full collars, but zippers can look pretty sharp too. I like the ideas that you all are coming up with! I think the shirts will be unique and fun :)
Still need to tweak, but this is a possible direction, based on a vision that I had. They're actually also designing a micro-fiber Lindenwood towel that would cost about $10 each.
Is there any way to see what the shirt would look like without the eye on the left sleeve and the extra paw prints on the back? Seems like it'd make the shirt less busy.
Maybe switch the Brunswick logo to white with a thin, black border?
Also, what is the thing over the collar? Is that just what the inside label will look like?
Maybe continue the gradient to the left sleeve, rather than a sharp change into gold?
I like it! If you change anything, I'd say get rid of the paw prints in the claw marks. I think the claw marks will look much more intimidating that way :) lol. And less busy. And if you want the Brunswick logo to stand out more, I'd say switch it to gold. Otherwise, I think it looks really good!

Just noticed the thing about the microfiber towel...does this company do things like shoe covers as well? Because that would be pretty sweet if we had LU shoe covers :) Or some companies do sublimated jackets and hoodies...would that be an option if we wanted to buy them? Not make it a requirement or anything...just if we wanted to buy something like that for ourselves :)

The eye is slightly creepy. I agree with getting rid of the stuff on the left sleeve. If you want something on it..... maybe replace it with the Brunswick logo.
Eyes removed, but I still left a ring of paw prints around the sleeve. The idea of doing a sublimated shirt is to make it a bit "wild and noisy," so I didn't want the shirt to end up being too plain, especially if we're paying extra for the technology. LOL

I like it without the eye on it. It looks really good! I also think that the towels and possibly shoe covers are a great idea. I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for either of those.
I think the paw prints on the sleeve should be moved over a little bit on the sleeve so they aren't right on the edge. Just a little tiny bit of a move. Other than that, I think it's good! I wouldn't change it anymore!

So, from the time I order the new shirts until they are produced and shipped, it will be about four weeks. That means I can't wait until after tryouts to order them if we want them before the fourth tournament of the year.
Phil, why not pre-order some sizes asap so we can get them before the first tournament where we can at least have them for varsity, then we'll make another order when we have the rest of the sizes that we need. What do you think?
