I have been approached by the coach at Central Missouri about what he is calling the Mid-America Singles Bowling Championships. It would be an invitation only women's singles event consisting of bowlers from the MIAA conference that would include several NCAA institutions. We are getting an invite because of the affiliation of our soon to be division 2 sports.
No definite format in place yet, but it would involve 3-4 hours of playing time and might involve some qualifying and match play. Ultimately, the long range goal is to create an event with doubles, team and possibly trios too, but the short term goal is to get the event off the ground and started this year.
There would be no cost to us this year except to get there and back, but the possible dates are limited due to our spring break and Easter weekend. Right now, it appears the only date we could do it is April 6th, which is a Friday (unless there would be enough interest for Sunday, April 1st at the end of spring break). It would be an up and back trip in one day: 3 hours to get there, competition, and 3 hours back.
I don't know if I can get the school to back it (it would be a cheap trip the way it's set up), but with the short time frame, I have to gauge interest right away. So, let me know your interest. At this point, it would be open to any girls that were sanctioned collegiately this season. If the school backs it, you would have to be currently eligible too.
Let me know if you're interested and which of the above two dates would work for you. Thanks.
I'm definitely in :) It'd have to be April 6th for me too.
