I hope you all are staying in today and the powers that be closed school. Just a couple of facts about the Lou's snow records and averages.
The average snowfall for us is about 18.5 inches per year. This means we get enough snow to cause problems, but locals here have no clue how to drive in it. SO DON'T TRUST THESE BOZOS AND STAY IN YOUR DORMS!!
Last year we got a whopping 12 inches.
This season our current snow to date is already 22.8 inches The record snowfall amounts for the Lou; 20.4 in 1890 (we can only guess how accurate that is). 15.5 in 1912 13.9 in 1982, the modern record.
The NWS had forecast for up to an inch of freezing rain and 6-12 inches of snow. We got lucky in a way yesterday because of 4 silly little degrees. It was 30-31 instead of the 27-26 predicted, so the rain didn't freeze on the roads. In fact, I'm pissed we canceled leagues.
However, today they took the freezing rain out of the forecast completely and changed to 10-20 inches of snow. What we are getting now, noon of Feb 1st, is sleet because the cold air is only a thin layer near the surface of the ground. Once it begins to snow, it won't stop until Wednesday morning.
Moral of the story, stay indoors and watch what they are saying is a local record storm. And no practice tonight and maybe not tomorrow ether.
BTW, did you know that birth-rates are higher in the fall after bad winters? Not to give you any ideas, I'm just sayin'...

And in typical St. Louis weather forecasting, the storm is done. Batter-down the hatches board up the windows, we got 3 inches of sleet Nice call on that one, weatherman...

hey now, I'm only 33 miles from the bowling center and theres ~14 inches on the ground, a drift that is completely over the hood of my car, and about 3 feet high in the driveway because its lower than the yard. And I got a text saying the office will be open tomorrow. I may just respond with "LOL"
Anyone feeling deprived is more then welcome to come dig me out.
