Lindenwood Underground

Im going to start a militia group dubbed the "Lindenwood Underground"

i hate this school..... the policies.... the administration..... everything about it.

im not quite sure what the exact reason is about why we cant have "full visitation" but if it has anything to do with the events that took place nearly 10 years ago or so.... thats bull**** and they have to stop living in the past.

im seriously annoyed to death. christian beliefs arent even this damn strict.

oh and i love the fact that we actually have limited visitation now, but the catch is, its only limited to lu students. so none of our friends who live off campus can see us. and not only does that suck, but theres nowhere on campus for us to hang out, because if youre not an lu student, you cant hang out in any of the buildings....and every building usually closes at 11 or 12.

ill repeat again...i hate this school. if i wasnt going for nearly no cost, or if i was actually informed by the administration upon visiting this place that lindenwood was this strict with their rules.... i probably wouldve went elsewhere. this isnt a college. this isnt even a church. this is be in bed by 9 or youre getting written up.

sorry for ranting, but our dorm meeting tonight made it clear that this school has us all by the balls and are laughing at us.

join the lu underground and fight the system

Don't bring my name into this...I think you should all be in bed by 9pm (except on bowling nights), study hard in the morning (5am) when you get up, think good clean thoughts, go to Sunday School, and never EVER have Demon Alcohol pass through your lips.

Sure count me in......this place is an absolute joke.  I've been told the reason for the lack of full visitation is to "avoid the possibility of a rape on campus that would get out in the media and makethe school look bad"....whether thats true or not who knows.  If its true its a crock of sh*t because that possibility exists no matter what the school administration does.  If it is over the sh*t from whenever it was or not the school needs to quit living in the past.  Some of these rules I think came straight from the 1940s or before.  Just because some of the buildings were built in the early 1900s doesn't mean that the rules still have to be in place from then.

Also, I don't know if I am the only one but the damn dorm phone line is useless.  Some people have told me they have called it and other people have answered the phone and said i wasn't here (remember I have a single...no roomies) and during the time they say they called....I was sitting in my room.  The best one though is when they tell me they call and a girl answers.  Well I know there hasn't been any girl in this room (I think I would remember that sort of thing).  Then there are the times they call and say its busy or what have you.  I've heard that for myself I used my cell phone to call my dorm phone while I was in the room and got a busy signal.

Oh let's not forget the internet issues which knock on wood seem to be somewhat better so far this semester.  Lets see....any more complaints....oh yeah i decided to increase my loan to cover my books for this semester and they haven't processed the paperwork yet which means i'm pretty much f*cked since i am needing these books asap.  Hmmmm anything else......no I think thats it for now from my cell.

I understand your reasoning for hating the policy at LU, but you should at least know all the facts about why:

"DECAPITATED GIRL KNEW HER KILLER, INVESTIGATORS SAY
POLICE ARE FOCUSING ON HER ACQUAINTANCES
BEDSHEET MAY BE LINKED TO CRIME

The Major Case Squad believes Tiffany Sabourin knew the person who decapitated her.

"We believe it's someone we will be able to connect to the victim," said St. Charles police Capt. Patrick McCarrick. He said police are focusing on people who are "primarily her acquaintances."

Sabourin's headless body was found at 6:50 a.m. April 26 behind a bank on First Capitol Drive in St. Charles, near the entrance to the Lindenwood University athletic field. Her head was found nearby on campus.

"He's (the killer) sending a message to the community," McCarrick said. "I would suspect that he's showing everybody his handiwork."

The squad of area investigators has been granted an open-ended extension of the investigation from its board of governors and St. Charles acting Police Chief Mike Amendola.

McCarrick and Florissant police Lt. Robert Lowery Jr. announced the extension Wednesday and released a photograph of an unusual bedsheet they believe is linked to the killing of Sabourin, 13, of Wentzville.

Investigators were also closer Wednesday night to retrieving what they believe is critical evidence at the bottom of a large pond on the southwest edge of the Lindenwood University campus.

Two large pumpers have been draining water from the pond, which is behind the two-story Robert F. Hyland Performance Arena, since about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The pond is next to a 40-acre wooded area about a quarter of a mile away from where Sabourin's body was discovered.

"We have information that there may be critical evidence in there," Lowery said.

Lowery and McCarrick would not comment on what led them to drain the large pond or what they were looking for.

"We would not have drained it if we didn't believe something was in there," Lowery said.

He said Wednesday afternoon that the water may be almost low enough for investigators "to get into areas we're interested in."

Lowery and McCarrick were not releasing much information about the bedsheet investigators found several days ago.

"The most I'd like to say is that we believe it is connected to the crime," Lowery said.

They would not say where the sheet was found, if any evidence was found on it or how it might be related to Sabourin's death.

It is a light beige, twin, top sheet with large brown circles on it. The wings of white seagulls are cutting through the circles.

"There's a possibility someone might recognize it from someone's house," McCarrick said. "It's somewhat unique. We think anyone who has seen it would remember it."

Though the investigation is 11 days old, Lowery said the squad has "a number of good leads" and that the green light to continue shows the case squad is making progress.

"We're moving sure-footedly and not rushing into anything," Lowery said. "This is going to take a lot of time."

Police have been unable to place Sabourin anywhere after 10 p.m. April 25. She was last seen at the El Matador Apartments on Cunningham Avenue in St. Charles where she was baby-sitting her two younger brothers"

Turns out it was Tiffany was lured away by 15 year old boy to an LU dorm and he and 21 yr-old mentally disturbed expelled Lindenwood student.  Then they raped, murdered and decapitated her.  They cut her head off to cover up the rape.  That bank they talk about in the article is now the welcome center where Guffy and Broyles have their office.  Mike and I have a different recollection of it, but I believe they found her head in or near a port-a-potty and the knife in the lake.  St. Charles at the time was much the same as it is today; a quiet, upper-middle class town with very little crime.  The county of over 200,000 people average less than 5 murders a year and most of those are the estranged spouse/lover murder/suicide type.  The town was in a state of shock and panic over this, and I remember that I grounded Melissa (who was 14 at the time) in fear.  Lindenwood was highly criticized for not having enough security at the time.

I'm not saying that you're not right about LU's restrictions.  I just wanted you to understand some of the reasoning behind them.  April of 1998 still seems like yesterday to me.

theres still not enough security.

half the time we dont get lights on in our parking lot.

All houses on campus arent allowed to turn on their porch lights. If they are caught with their porch lights on at dusk, they are fined. What the hell is that all about?

it also took security nearly 15 minutes to respond to a fire drill at our dorm. and it wasnt a scheduled one.

oh and last year, our parking lot wasnt touched with rock salt until I personally made a phone call and threatened to write to the newspapers about the poor quality of the LU staff after Josh nearly killed himself from where he parked his car to the dorm door. It shouldnt have even come to that. Common sense is that when it snows, its cold, and eventually everything will freeze to ice which means PUT ROCK SALT OUT.

however it sucks about the girl and everything, and it sucks that there are some truly sick ppl out there....but that doesnt mean we have to be punished. No, I know this school will never be anything like what you see in the movies, but visitation isnt much to ask for. I dont even complain about the alcohol rule. And I just think its even funnier that Lindenwood will kick you out of school if you are homosexual, but all they let us see is our own sex. The only ones benefiting from this are homosexuals....and ugly ppl.

i just dont understand who makes up these policies, why they make them, and what they are on while doing it. A Weird Al album makes more sense then this school sometimes.

You could survey 100 ppl randomly at this school and have the negatives outweigh the positives on this position. Its definitely not just me.

I know of the reasons behind all the anal retentive rules, but 1998...hmmm.....I don't care how it may seem like yesterday to some people, that is still 6-7 years ago. Somethings that don't happen on this campus are common sense. Serving edible food? Salting parking lots? Treating college students....like we are in college? Having enough parking....for everyone? Just to name a few things.....
I do live in a campus house. Which was horrible upon moving in by the way, but now 100% better cause me and Kristen are handy with paint brushes, hammers, and spackle (waits for the oooh's and awww's to stop) and they did tell us we could not have our porch lights on after midnight otherwise we will get fined....well if I go out I normally don't get back before midnight....so when I get out of my car on a dark street searching for the right key and unlocking both of the locks....I think someone has amble time to mug me or something.....yay.....and we cannot open our garage door...love how they pad lock it shut. :( Just so we can not seek guys in the house threw that way.
****ing sucks

I honestly think that men underestimate us females. I seem to have surprised many guys about my knowledge of cars and my use of tools....yup I have tools. Hell there is even an oil filter on my chest of drawers (needed it for a speech) But on a nice day I would rather change my own oil and get it done hell of a lot faster then paying some moron to get it done. At least I will know it is done correctly. hmph.
