Just wanted to let you all know that Crest bowl is starting a new format of league on September 21st (Thursday Nights) in which you will use a plastic ball at everything. You bring your own ball, and that is the only ball you're allowed to use. Once you register it, there's no turning back. The league will bowl 3 games on Thursday nights at apprx. 9:45. The league begins on September 21st and ends on January 4th.
Acceptable balls are Polyester and Viz-A-Balls.
The league features the 4,3,2,&1 point system. How this works is that it's position round every week. 4 bowlers on a pair. High 2 games move two lanes to the right, low 2 move one to the left. If there is a tie, a one frame rolloff will occur until there is a winner.
Here's a breakdown based on 24 bowlers.
Per bowler:
$50 Deposit $20 per week x 16 weeks Total = $370
Bowling Fees = $112
Total Prize Fund = $258
Total Bowlers (Based on 24 bowlers)
$50 Deposits = $1,200 $20 Per Week = $7,680 Total = $8,880
If you are interested, please call 314-837-0494 and talk to either Mike Flanagan or Me, Ricky Matsko. We currently have around 15 people for the league, so we need bowlers. If you know anyone that would be interested, let them know about the league.
I'm also going to attempt to do brackets and eliminators every week. We use BLS up there, so I'm sure we can run things pretty smoothly.
like halwe said, practice plus 95 % of our adult people here already bowl a league thu night.
my opinion, even though it doesn't matter since I cant/wont be entering....a format like this is obviously intending to appeal to highly skilled bowlers...they are ones who all will believe they can and will win it. I would lower prize fund dramatically for the bottom spots and put it into the top. No one enters a league because they have the safety net of getting $100 back instead of say $25, but if people see $1500 (or more if you can swing it) on top that is much more attractive
