Tournament Info:

  • There will be no lane movement during this event.  Teams will bowl the entire day on the same pair of lanes.  There will be one team per pair of lanes with no empty lanes between teams.  However, with 8 players and 1 coach/staff person there will be plenty of room for everyone to social distance.  Each pair of lanes will be disinfected before teams arrive and disinfecting cleaner will be available for interested teams to use.
  • MASKS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES DURING THE EVENT.  THEY CAN ONLY BE LOWERED TO EAT, DRINK OR WHEN THE PLAYER IS ON THE APPROACH.  THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED SO PLEASE HELP US STAY IN COMPLIANCE.
  • LANE ASSIGNMENTS AND THE PATTERN WILL BE ISSUED BY THURSDAY, JANUARY 28TH.
  • Coaches packets with forms, lane pattern graph and lane assignments can be picked up at the service counter on the level where the team is bowling (mens upstairs; womens downstairs).

Additional Info:

  • Teams are restricted to a maximum of 9 people per team including players, coaches, staff.  Due to capacity limits teams will be ask to as a team to make sure we do not exceed capacity.  We can expect the Health Department and the Fire Department to pay us a visit during the event so please make sure you abide by this limitation.  Due to capacity restrictions, spectators will not be permitted.  Live streaming is encouraged to allow fans to watch the event.
  • The entry fee includes light snacks, water and Gatorade.  These items can be picked up at the concession stand by individuals throughout the event.  The type of light snacks will be fruit snacks, chips, snack bars, etc.  We are projecting 3 snack items per player and we ordered enough drinks for one case per team.  We are requesting that teams reframe from carrying in containers with snacks and drinks.  However, if you have players with allergy issues, please plan to bring in their snacks.
  • We will not take a break during the event for lunch.  Lunch will be ready by noon on Sunday and can be picked up at the concession stand for the entire team.  The lunch will include a small sub sandwich (turkey/cheese or ham/cheese), chips, cookie, drink.  The lunch must be ordered in advance (need a list put together by 4 pm Tuesday, January 26) but can be paid for on the day of the event (you can use a credit card to pay).  For players with a gluten allergy the vendor can provide a sandwich on gluten-free bread.  Please indicate on the form how many gluten-free sandwiches you need.  The concession stand will be open but is not equipped to provide lunch for the number of players we are expecting, so if you decide not to utilize this lunch option, please make sure you have another option for lunch.

·         Transition Time -Every team will begin their 4 game baker set at the same time. When you are completed with your set, you are to stay on your pair until every pair is complete. Once everyone is completed, there will be a 3-5 minutes transition time (announcement) to your next pair. Once the transition time is complete, there will be an another announcement that you are free to begin the next set.

A few other things that we are doing is:

1.       Supplying Sanitary Wipes -  We will have some volunteers that will be assisting in wiping down pairs once the transition time begins, but, I am also asking that you coaches help out when you can and wipe down the pair and throw away any garbage accumulated, before you leave for your next pair.

2.       Texting Scores  We will be texting the scores to our score keeper every 4 game baker setinstead of bringing into tournament office. Once again, this is something that NCAA tournaments have implemented this year due to Covid, and actually seems like a better alternative anyway (as long as you remember to do it). We will be supplying the score keepers phone number in coaches meeting.

3.       One Team Per Pair  - This will help with distancing throughout event, but also will be interesting to see how much longer the lane pattern actually holds up.should be something different. Practice on starting pair will be the same as usual, 7.5 minutes on non -starting lane, then 7.5 on starting lane (even with you being the only team on pair). You wont be able to practice on both lanes throughout the whole 15 minutes. Once again, I think the lack of play could be challenging, and add a different dimension that we normally dont see.

4.        Temperature Checks  We will be doing temp checks as everyone comes into entrance. So, we need EVERYONE to come into the MAIN ENTRANCE at both facilities.

5.       NO SPECTATORS- I know this stinks, but it is what it is. We will have a volunteer at the door throughout the day.

6.       Masks At All TimesiIncluding the Approach  - Once again, just for everyones safety, we ask that all teams adhere to this protocol AT ALL TIMES.

A few other things.

You will be allowed to bring in some snacks and water for teams. This has been approved by the bowling center proprietor.

Check in will begin at 7:30am for Men at St Clair, and 8:00am for Women at Bel Air.

Match Play Rules
Majority of matches will be best-of-three. First two rounds will be conducted on fresh oil, so 15 minutes of practice (half on each lane of pair).  Teams receive 8 balls per lane in rounds afterwards.  Higher seed (as determined by total pin fall in division on Saturday) receives lane choice, however if any best of three match goes to a third game, the team with the highest two-game total receives lane choice for final game.
Any match tied after three or five (in best of five matches) will be settled with a five-ball roll off. Highest pin fall wins.  If still tied, repeat until winner is determined.
In men's varsity, semifinals and finals will be best-of-five single elimination.  In women's varsity, best-of-five stepladder will be used for top three teams. Men's JV will be a traditional bracket with all best-of-three matches.

Any team with a bye will be able to stay loose on a practice pair and throw shots until the last ball of their bye round is thrown.  Teams competing in any round may not go to practice pair if their match ends early.

Surface adjustments will be allowed through the end of practice on Saturday morning.

For Sunday match play, surface adjustments will be allowed through the end of any practice session, and in between rounds after the last ball of the current round is thrown.

Women's Schedule (BOTH days)
7 am:  Check-In
7:45 am:  Coaches Meeting
8 am:  Practice
8:15 am:  4 team games/16 baker games

Men's Schedule (BOTH days)
8 am:  Check-In
8:45 am:  Coaches Meeting
9 am:  Practice
9:15 am:  4 team games/16 baker games

Each day is separate tournament.  NO SPECTATORS.  Four teams assigned in 4-lane pods and will move together to the right all day.  NO paddock.  NO OUTSIDE FOOD, DRINK OR COOLERS ARE TO BE BROUGHT INTO THE FACILITIES.  No food and drinks will be allowed in the settee area, you will need to be on the concourse to eat or drink.  The bowling centers will provide cases of water as well as cases of granola barsthere will be lunch specials available all during competition.

Number of Players/Coaches Allowed in Bowlers Area:  To limit the number of people in each section, and to adhere to local and state recommendations, we are limiting each team to 8 players in the bowlers area plus one assigned coach per paid entry.  Masks will be worn at all times, even while bowling.

Ball Storage during Competition at Royal Crest Lanes:  Keep in mind this section is to keep everyone safe during the event. All bowling balls must be placed in the taped off area that we have designated for bags/balls and an opening must be left for people to get into the bowling area. Other alternative areas will be the upper area in the bar, locker room area, game room and party room. Bags left on the carpet will be moved to a designated area. Coaches, please take an extra few minutes to cover this with your teams. Our goal is that through this planning, it will be much smoother and safer for everyone.

Ball Storage during Competition at Gage Bowl:  When players are ready to go to the lanes, they are allowed 1 triple bag and one carried ball. All other bags and balls are to remain in the locker room. This is for everyones safety. No bags are to be in the carpeted area, entry ways or bar area. Any balls left in these areas will be removed and placed in a designated area. Again, this is for everyones safety.

Sectionals (Singles Friday/Team Saturday & Sunday)
April 16-18, 2021
Dallas, Texas

Each player/coach for singles and team Sectionals will have to have a negative PCR COVID test taken no earlier than April 12 and submitted via an online portal before check-in for singles Friday morning, so essentially by Thursday, April 15.  However, we will be traveling all day on Thursday, so not sure how those logistics might work.

Bus to Dallas currently will arrive at 7 am Thursday, April 15 and park on second level of Hyland lot.  ALL cars must park on third level or ALL the way down the second level by the pickle ball courts.  Temperature checks and meal money at 7:30 am.

All players/coaches will also have to submit a waiver of liability form electronically.  This link will be provided most likely via email, so stay tuned.

Singles sign-ups have now been pushed back to Monday, April 5 beginning at 10 am CDT.  I will register those traveling to Dallas first, and then sign-up those going to Smyrna and Addison.  PLEASE NOTE THAT AT THIS POINT, THERE IS NO ROOM IN THE POST-SEASON BUDGET TO PROVIDE HOTEL OR MEAL MONEY FOR ANYONE BEYOND THE 20 PLAYERS/COACHES THAT WILL BE INCLUDED ON THE MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TEAM SECTIONAL ROSTERS.  ALSO NOTE that bowling singles this year WILL use one of the four years of singles eligibility that you have.  You do NOT get a "free" year like everyone received for the team season.  Here is the list:
