Good news - both men and women's teams are currently ranked first by a large margin. It's easily the highest half/year rankings the women has ever had.
The men's team in 2008-09 probably would have been equal to this year. They had less points, but they changed the point system after that year. The '08-09 team 2nds and a win in tier ones; while this years team has two 2nds and a third. However, that team lost its top player to grades and the top freshmen left school and they ended up 5th in the rankings.
Bad news - nether team will probably be first after the Holiday tournaments. On the women's side, RobMo is 1132 points back. Last year, If a school won both tournaments, they could max out around 1250-1300 points. That sounds like a sever challenge until see RobMo did that last year on the East Coast. There was only 4 schools ranked in the top 20 there and they won both the tournaments easily. They would have to win both tourneys, but I predict they will.
The next two schools, McKendree and Wright St, didn't bowl over the break last year, so my prediction for January rankings are;
Robert Morris - LU - Wichita - Webber - Pikeville - Newman - McKendree - and the rest is a garbled mess.
The Men are 867 ahead of RobMo and 1138 ahead of Morehead. The max points a men's school could get over the break is about 1400. I would say RobMo is a mortal lock while Morehead would need two top 4 finishes. They should accomplish that, but the Mens side of the East Coast tourneys is a little deeper. Last year, a pretty good Morehead team finished 17th in the Nittany Lion, so it won't be easy.
Still, my predictions for January;
RobMo - Morehead - LU - Will Penn (if they bowl?) - Webber - Saginaw - Wichita - Davenport - Midland
Still, it was a great first half, congrats.

Interesting development... The roster for the Keystone;
Wright State University Indiana Tech Robert Morris-Illinois Ohio State University Davenport University Newman University Purdue University Niagara Community College Erie Community College Westchester Community College Hudson Valley Community College Marian University Pikeville University Schnectady Community College Mohawk Valley Community College Notre Dame College Morehead State University Briarcliff College Indiana University
First, that's 19 teams, an increase of 6 from the year before. Second, I see Pikeville has entered (I guess they got tired of going west to take on Wichita). IMHO, Pikeville is every bit as talented as RobMo. I'm not saying they still won't sweep, but it got a whole lot tougher. Wright St. is pretty tough, too. If RobMo finish in second in ether tournament, they will be right at 1100 power points.
I think the LU Women will hold on to first in the rankings now.

Pikeville is bowling all of the christmas tournaments, which is why they didn't bowl team match games
If so, they could get a max of 2500 power points, since they are 2000 behind us, they will be in first. However, they would have to average 2nd-3rd in every tourney. That's not easy to do, its is a long week and half.
For the record, that insane. That's like the World Series of College bowling.

Especially since they're splitting squads somewhat for each tournament. There will be 3-4 key players that are the same I believe, but most of the roster is going east OR west, not both.
Congrats guys and girls for both being number one in the country. That is something to be able to say about yourselves. Now continue the dominance throughout the rest of the year and lets see you bring back a pair of nationals championships.
well thanks RJ!! so do we have any guesstimates as to where we are gunna be ranked after the christmas tournaments??
Well, the only school that I thought was a threat on the West Coast was Pikeville's Women, and they beat them up pretty good; a 1st and 2nd power points wise. Now they go to a weaker East Coast tier 1s and they only need to finish in the 4 in both to go a round our Girls, but they should beat RobMo enough to keep the Girls 2nd.
The only men's team doing the grand slam is Zona St. so the only schools that can go around us is RobMo and Morehead.

Just a quick educated guess on the women rankings after Vegas;
1 Lindenwood University 4525 2 Pikeville /University of 3545 3 Wichita State University 3447 4 Robert Morris Univ. - Illinois 3393 5 McKendree University 3179 6 Webber International University 3069 7 Wright State University 3067 8 Midland University 2727
and the men;
1 Lindenwood University 4758 2 William Penn University 4259 3 Webber International University 4128 4 Midland University 4075 5 Robert Morris Univ. - Illinois 3891 6 Wichita State University 3698 7 Morehead State University 3620 8 Saginaw Valley State University 3156 9 West Texas A&M University 3052
Did this on my computer just now, so I'm sure there are mistakes. Just give us an idea. Teams in bold are ones I know that are bowling the Tier 1s on the East Coast.

The Pikeville girls need to finish 3rd or better to go around us. The RobMo girls need a win to pass us.
boys
1 Lindenwood University 4758 2 Robert Morris Univ. - Illinois 4566 3 William Penn University 4259 6 Morehead State University 4214 4 Webber International University 4128 5 Midland University 4075 7 Saginaw Valley State University 3810 8 Wichita State University 3698
The RobMo guys need to not shoot themselves in the foot, basically. They need to be in the top 14. Morehead need a finish 3rd or higher to pass us.
Those estimates are if the entries are the same as the Keystone. I haven't seen anything on the Kegler.

1. Pikeville /University of 8 5 207 1449 3322 4771 8 7 2221 2. Lindenwood University 9 3 181 1267 3258 4525 1 -1 0 3. Robert Morris U Illinois 9 4 169 1183 3056 4239 2 -1 846 4. Wichita State Univer 7 3 187 1309 2628 3937 6 2 1147 5. Wright State University 10 3 137 959 2740 3699 4 -1 632 6. Webber International 7 5 170 1190 2386 3576 5 -1 746 7. Midland University 8 3 152 1064 2444 3508 7 0 781
Being isn't a bad place to be in. Pikeville already has 5 tier ones in, so we can pick up big points on them in the black and gold. The Guys don't have that luxury with RobMo, they still got two tier ones left.
My numbers were off, mostly due to rounding errors, but part of was due some teams that Karl consider ineligible. That wasn't big deal on the Girls side, but on the boys it brought the Keystone down from 41 teams to 40. That was one of the point cutoffs. So, instead of Morehead getting 258 pts for 3rd (and finishing with 4760), they got 247 and ended up in third in rankings.
1. Robert Morris Uni Illinois 9 4 208 1456 3754 5210 2 1 1319 2. Lindenwood University 9 3 190 1330 3428 4758 1 -1 0 3. Morehead State Univ 9 4 189 1323 3406 4729 3 0 1109 4. William Penn University 7 3 202 1414 2840 4254 4 0 1084 5. Saginaw Valley State 10 4 154 1078 3082 4160 5 0 1004 6. Webber International 8 5 179 1253 2874 4127 6 0 984 7. Midland University 8 3 177 1239 2836 4075 8 1 1278 8. Wright State University 10 3 142 994 2846 3840 7 -1 894
I don't know why those teams were ineligible, but for now we are in 2nd place. FWIW, on the guys side, 18 out of the top 19 teams bowled the holiday tourneys, with us being the only exception. On the girls side, McKendree drop 5 spots and are now out of the running for top ranking. They only have the Hoosier as the remaining tier one on the schedule. Coach Steve might be dropping the ball if a couple of more teams go around him at another tier one. Then the committee gives him a sectional draw of two top eights, say a pikeville or Webber and then throw a couple of NCAA schools in their sectional. All of sudden, one of the top teams in the country is struggling to make out of the sectional alive...
And remember; this leads to this or maybe even this and sadly sometimes this ,or hopefully this in which case you should do this
Happy Effin' New Year, everyone!!!
