The shot is a 37 foot, 1.25 to 1 Sport Shot. We are bowling on a 6 year old AMF synthetic surface that is still in excellent condition. The approaches are wood.
The host center is a bit sensitive about bringing food into the building. Please note the requested policy below.
Food Policy for the tournament is as follows and I want to thank you in advance for cooperating with it.
"Teams are allowed to bring in snacks such as fruit, vegetables, and cheese, but no meals or large amounts of candy that would otherwise be available through vending machines. Teams are allowed healthy drinks, aka water and sports drinks, but nothing that would be available through the snack bar."
For those of you who don't know me, I bowled for LU from 2005-2008. Live in Louisville and our (my parents and I) pro shop is in Rose Bowl, we've been there sicne 1994. I know this pattern/house better than anyone, so here are some inside tips on what to expect.
Same pattern as last year. For those of you who don't remember or need a refresher course, read this:
40ft AMF Sport Pattern. If you are trying to play the lanes straight, keep your BP around 10-11-12. If you are going to move further in (which everyone will be forced to eventually), start around 12-13-14. It's a pretty flat pattern and you won't have much mistake room. The lanes are 7 year old HPL's so when the lanes transition, they do it quickly. If you have any thoughts about playing the gutter, get rid of them immediately. There is nothing outside of 9. Trust me. If you know me, you know my ability to play the lanes straight. Even I won't look outside. If you don't know me, I'm sure my reputation precedes me (for better or not). I have been at the BU tournament the last 3 years (hell, I've coached an LU men's team each year) but this year, I'm working back to back 12 hour days at the radio station so I won't be there. If you have ANY questions about the pattern, house, etc, just walk into the pro shop (behind 33-34) and ask my Dad, Chuck. He'll see the LU logo and will help, no worries. Also, we sanded the approaches 2 weeks ago, they may be a little slick so just a heads up.
I hope everyone has a safe trip and I would REALLY like for LU to get a win. The Morehead team has some Louisville bowlers who knows this pattern pretty well and have been quite successful the last few years. Please do what you can to end this.
