Trip to Indy, nice bowling Lions!!!

This week was great for me.  Since we had assigned captains for each team, I got to watch each one of you.  It was great, I thought as a group you represented the University in grand fashion.

I figured since got to see each one of you throw at least one shot on Saturday, I should give you a "coaches" critique.

Please take Light heartedly, there will be sarcasm

Girlzzzzzzzz

Kudos to; Amy, Jess, Lisa!  Just great bowling on your part!

The Lionesses

Jess; Would have been all tournament except for, ah, that hiccup in game 5.  Still a good week.

Jenn; Er...Nice bowling in Milwaukee...

Kristen; looked a little soft for this condition...

Susan; not great numbers, but the ball is coming off your hand great...

Lizzzie; Super sub, nice bowling

AshCan; loves that gutter...

Melanie; not bad, but still a little around it.  Like Phil says, "stay behind it"...

Overall; A very nice finish, but starting to look like the Reid/Richter teams a couple of years ago; lots a 2nds...

Muellers (Named for the 2nd person in charge at LU, Julie Mueller)

Amy; I knew you had it in ya, keep it up...

Lisa; Now, a little consistancy and the sky is the limit.

Emily; The rock of the B team, great anchor...

Melissa; The release looks great, but those spares!

Michelle; Great start, and I only saw your start, so good bowling, we won't talk about the rest...

Danielle; be careful of where you put your hand!!

Catherine;  Okay, I lied, I didn't see everybody bowl, but I'm sure you threw the ball well

Overall, dare I say the most surprising performance of the tourney, very nice!

boyzz

Nice bowling, Mark, Shea, Ginger, Dre, Justin, and Daniel; all plus.  Outstanding!

Lions

BV; slow start (distractions?) but rebound as always.  led the Lions to high baker score in the tourney as the rock solid anchor.  In other words, same ol, BV...

Shea; Strong, steady, leads by example.  In other words, same ol Shizz...

Mark; Are you sure you're only 19?  He acts like he's bowled this type competition forever!

Dre:  Highest ave on the team after two weeks.  Maybe he'll get somebody to start him next week?

E; Uncharacteristically off week, he's allowed.  Didn't look like he felt well, get better next week...

Brandon; Bowled well out of the bullpen...

Overall;  Veteran team just doing what they do; owning the baker format.  Nice bowling.

Team Wood

Brian G;  Great finisher, not so great starter...

Daniel; fun to watch play the gutter, but is there other parts of the lane??

Ryan; solid, look comfortable in anchor in baker...

J-Lo; bowled well considering.  A tough week.  Our thoughts go out to you and your family.

Chad; Very good, the leader of a young team.

Justin:  Second in average on the team after 2 weeks.  Secret weapon???

Shadow; only 3 games on Sat, went around the washout that would have beat Fresno; at least you got to kiss Lisa

Overall; Good week.  A little out of water in baker for first time, but overall, extremely good bowling.  Coach Mike was working his magic on Saturday.  Fun to watch.  Tons of emotion and excitement, maybe we could give some of that to the other teams...

Team Spellman

Adam; nice bowling, very impressive...

Jesse; Still not the Jess of last year, but improving...

Jerry; Up and down, but very hot for a stretch, not bad at all, good work...

Niggity;  Consistant, well; sort of a leader on this team, well; you were there  What type of nick name is "niggity" anyway???

Mike; Thought you bowled better than your score indicated, but in the end, Ni..ah..Nathan beat you by 10 pins.  Not bad

Bryan;  The shots I seen you throw were pretty good.  Still need to stay down at the line and to stay away from bad influences like J-Lo

Overall; Not bad, for a C-team if you consider you beat 3 other school's A-team and 4 other schools B-teams.  Not to mention the two team right in front of you Western and ASU are both teams that make Nationals every year.  Well done.

I didn't get to see the guys bowl, but I was able to watch all the girlzzzzz (as Randy put it)!

I'll echo his comments about a great weekend of bowling!  I won't mention everyone specifically, but a few thoughts....

For the Lionesses...excellent job of hanging in there, working together and finding a way when things got tough.  Ashlee inside the 5th arrow?  Kristen with the spare ball in game 6?  Nice!  On Sunday, excellent job of bouncing back to hold off Mo Bap and a late charge from Fresno.  Way to stay on the accelerator and keep the pressure on!

For the Mueller's...What can I say?  Fantastic!  Don't EVER lose that enthusiasm, no matter how your bowling might be going!!  If I could find a way to bottle that, I'd be a rich man!  Congrats once again to Amy and Lisa on an outstanding weekend.  Keep showing off!

It's still early in the season, but I'm really excited about the rest of the year!  I believe I'll see some great things from both the guys and girls before all is said and done!  Thanks for having me along for the ride!

Phil
