How would everyone feel if I charged for Tryouts?

I would be a one time charge of $100, half would go to the program, the other half to the center to offset the cost of lane maintenance.

To the guys that don't make the team, they would be reimbursed all but $24.

Everyone who tries out would receive a freegame card to be used at anytime we are open.

Phil said it's probably to late to implement this year.

I know a lot of club teams from other schools that have to pay much more than $100 to be on the team. Obviously I wouldn't want to pay, but if the center needs us to then it's not really an option. You allow us to practice pretty much whenever we feel like for free, and I'm sure that a lot of us would get our $100 worth of practice in, so I don't see the big deal in making us pay. And what would the free game pass be good for if we already bowl for free? Unless, of course, you are going to start charging us to practice. Then I could see where it would come in handy. Just my opinion.

Since I figured 50% would go to the program; that would put $3500 into the programs shirt fund.
This would also give me a list of players that could practice free. In the past we've had students that listed on the program but quit trying out the still expected free bowling. It's simple now; no tryout, no free bowling. Also, with the card, you can practice free anytime. In a sense, you earned the right to bowl free, even if I have a full house.

You know how I feel about this Randy....To everyone who doesn't know every year Randy puts alot out of pocket for this team. The school doesn't give him any money for the free bowling that we recieve, not to mention how often he re-oils the lanes for us to practice on and such. I don't know the exact numbers but it's not cheap, anyone who isn't willing to pay $100 dollars, for one to help out one of our coach's who puts alot for us and two our program is in my opinion what I would call a cheap ass.lol

Obviously no one wants to pay for something they do not have to like Darla said. But imo I'd completely agree with Darla. I know that St. Johns the bowling college here on Long Island, there team is considered a club and they have to pay their entrys into all the tournaments, their flights to places, pratice, and pretty much everything else. So I honestly feel $100 for tryouts is more then fair especially since you let us bowl for free(with the new card/pass), we more then get our $'s worth out of the deal and like you said half also helps out the team for shirt and etc itself.
