One of the Original Bowling Voices is silent

Chris Schenkel passed away.  For those of us older bowlers he was the sound of saturday afternoon, or in foot's case, the sound of his carrer.

here is a link

I remember watching the PBA with Schenkel broadcasting. I wasn't really into bowling much but I did watch and he will be missed.

Before college football and NFL pre-game shows polluted my mind, Schenkel and Nelson Burton Jr. were my main concern on Saturday afternoons from 2:00-3:20. Many memories from that time span... my favorite memories were Pete Weber breaking the trophy on live TV at the 1991 US Open and Del Ballard Jr. guttering at the Fair Lanes Open in 1992 when he needed 7 pins to win the championship. The entire croud went silent.

He'll be missed, for sure...
