I saw the grades...

And I'm pissed.

No less than five students that bowling last spring are now ineligible.  With the exception of Doug Hemos, everyone who was ineligible is still ineligible.

On the other hand;
Krista Martin still hasn't gotten less than an A, and Justin Lynn lower his GPA to 3.86 by only getting a 3.8 this semester.  Congrats to you two and the other who did well in class.  I wish I had more like you.  Later I will list those over a 3.2.

However, overall I am embarrassed.  It's embarrassing for the school and it's embarrassing to our bowling program.furious

i motion for BI weekly grade sheets due every tuesday practice...dropping under a certain goal will kick u off the team for a tournament...id rather see people go out for a tournament than a whole semester.  i had to sit a whole semester and wouldnt want that on anyone else.

i'm gonna agree with town something needs to be done because people look down on our program cause they know about everybody and their grades. We need to start crackng down on people that can't just go to class and pass or recruits aren't going to want to come because of our history of good bowlers not going to class and being ineligible. We want to be a powerhouse well we have to do it in the classroom as well on the lanes and that is all i have to say about that

i agree with both of ya, only problem is, a lot of teachers decide that progress reports aren't part of their job, and we all know how hard it can be to get a hold of a teacher for something like that. all we have done the last three years is talk about the people who don't go to class behind their backs. instead lets confront them about it. i agree something needs to be done, i just don't know exactly what. another thing we have to realize, while we want to help our friends and teammates, we're all grown up "adults" and need to take responsibility for our own lives. if these people won't do it for themselves, who's to say that we will make a difference?

I think doing some kind of a check up on grades would be a good idea too. I do understand what Daniel is talking about though but hopefully we can figure something out....

i see people from other sports and even people from this team that had to do attendance checks go up right before or after class to get the teacher to sign them...the teachers usually moaned about it but it did get done. we just have to tell them its mandatory.

I would like to say that I am sorry to everyone on this team on being one of those "people"!! I had been very juvenile in the fact that all I have to do is walk my ass to class. But the past is past. I am going to do school for myself and no1 else. Congrats to those that are able to bowl and again Im sorry coach.

You never really know what you hear and who you hear it from. I would recommend not talking behind peoples back in the near future. It only makes asses out of you in which EVERYONE hears everything. So to Town and Dole I would highly suggest that you make the progress reports mandatory for those of us that aren't school people (lol) just to see if we really want to participate or not. Good luck to all of you. Hope the summer goes well for you all.

Does anyone here that I'm smarter than a billy goat?

I'm not.

Everyone know how easy it is to pass classes and graduate from LU.

None of this information is new to anybody.

Everyone, even those w/ the IQ of farm animals, can succeed at LU. Myself included.

For the sake of the program I sincerely hope the progress reports/attendance sheets become a reality.

I also hope that all those who can realistically become re-eligble do so and no additional students become ineligible.

With that being said, drrrrrrrrrrr.

agreed

passing a class isnt that hard... "D" = Diploma

& if someone cant maintain a 2.0gpa ...they deserve to be talked about. maybe all that negative tough-love trash talk could be turned into a positive and used to shut everyone up and prove that they arent a dumbass as previously thought.

highly highly dissagree with chase. and somewhat with jlowe. and im not trying to stand up for the people that didnt make grades. but its more than just being smart or dumb, i think one of the smartest people i ever knew went under. its a motivation thing, when u leave home and u realize u can have fun every day hanging out with ur friends...ur going to do that, and somedays ur going to forget about class. all of a sudden those couple days turn into more. its a life style change that some people dont handle as well as others...including myself. maybe i see both sides cause ive been on both sides. but to sit here and talk **** about them...OR WHAT MOST PEOPLE DO, WHICH IS TALK **** ABOUT THEM BEHIND THERE BACK...is total bull. if u have succeded with flying colors in everything in ur life, congrats. sorry if some people have problems. i do think people just need to walk to class to pass...especially ur first two years, but talking behind there back, making them feel like crap, calling them stupid and dumb...all ur going to do is make them not wanna go to class more.

town

p.s. if i made people mad cause i was "standing" up for the people that didnt make grades...so be it, i think people go about it all wrong though.

i wasnt saying to verbally assassinate them... motivational tough love is more on the anatomy i was speaking. perhaps i should've reworded it.

& while I agree everyone needs to hang out & let loose every now & then & put school/class as a second priority... most of the ppl there, are there due to scholarship money more than likely. so it is kind of a "job"... you are expected to perform a certain way.

if Lindenwood coaches had the power to "cut" ...I'm sure they certainly would.

And I understand that some people just aren't cut out for college... but giving up without even trying is a waste of everyones time... especially the programs. If you give a valiant effort & then decide it isn't for you... peachy.. you did your best. Selling your self short is like having mommy do your laundry for the rest of your life.

My first year of college I had a 3.3 gpa. 4 years later I graduated with around a 2.7. And I'll be the first to admit I barely applied myself. I had a lifestyle change. 900 miles away from home. 5 different roommates each equipped with their own unique personalities. It's not hard to pass classes. Sure I had that "one class" that no matter how hard you study for, you do terrible. They're inevitable & happen to everyone. But it shouldn't be tolerable for people to fail semester after semester. I can see maybe one semester... but if that person exceeds 2 semesters under a 2.0... it should be lights out.
